Introduction

We take user privacy very seriously. We want you to relax and enjoy the experience on the site, and rest assured that your personal information is being used as dictated in this statement. This document covers Coupl.in's treatment of your personal information. This document does not apply to the practices of companies or firms that Coupl.in does not own or control, or to people we do not employ.

Coupl.in helps you meet somone interesting. We collect and use your personal information to operate the Coupl.in website and deliver the matches for your profile. Coupl.in does not sell or rent your personally identifiable information.

Information Collection

In order to use this website, you must be an adult at least 18 years of age and you must read, express consent to the Terms of Use Agreement and Privacy Policy and you must complete a registration form. When you register with Coupl.in, you are required to provide contact information (such as email address) and basic demographic information (such as birth date, gender, religion, match preferences etc).You may change your registration information by using the Edit Profile link in the Profile Tab or by contacting us. You have all the information entered by you on the website,however you grant us the right to use the information as described in the section below name 'Information Use'.You may delete your account at any time by using our Delete account link in the Profile Tab.

Login and Registration

To simplify the process of registration and login, and to avoid having to create another username and password,we allow logins to the website through a variety of federated login methods.The information we collect for each such method is listed below.

Google Account : Login and Registration through your Google account is done using the OpenID Protocol.You will be asked to provide your email address and First Name to Coupl.in on the Google Account login page.Once you confirm, Google will send Coupl.in your email address and First Name which we will store and use to fill up the registration form. Along with this Google will send a unique identifier for your login on Coupl.in.Coupl.in stores this identifier to identify you when you return back.
Yahoo Account : Login and Registration through your Yahoo account is done using the OpenID Protocol.You will be asked to provide your email address and First Name to Coupl.in on the Yahoo OpenID login page.Along with this, you can choose one of the open ids created for you on Yahoo, to log in to Coupl.in.Once you confirm, Yahoo will send Coupl.in your email address and First Name which we will store and use to fill up the registration form. Coupl.in uses the OpenID identifier sent by Yahoo to identify you on the website when you return back.
Note that at the time of writing,Yahoo does not fully implement the SREG extension of OpenID which implies that Coupl.in does not receive the email address and first name.Hence you will be asked to re enter the data.
Hotmail Account : Login and Registration through your Hotmail or Windows Live account is done using the Windows Live ID Federated WebAuth protocol.Once you click on the Hotmail icon, you will be taken to the Windows Live login page and be asked to sign in.After you sign in, Windows Live redirects you to the Coupl.in pages.Windows live provides Coupl.in with a unique identifier for you on Coupl.in.This is used to identify you on Coupl.in.
As of the time of writing, Windows Live hasn't yet provided full support for OpenID. However in future we reserve the right to switch to OpenID and will provide a reasonable and transparent way to manage your Live ID on Coupl.in with minimal disruption to the services we provide.
Facebook Connect : Login and Registration through your Facebook account is done using the Facebook Connect protocol.Once you click on the Facebook icon, a browser popup dialog from Facebook asks you to sign in and grant permission to the couplin application on Facebook.Once you do that, you will be redirected to Coupl.in.Facebook Connect allows Coupl.in to access your profile and get information to use on Coupl.in.However the Facebook Terms prevent applications from storing any data beyond 24 hours(except Storable Data).Coupl.in's interaction with Facebook is outlined below
- At the time of registration,after your login to Facebook and authorize the couplin app, we request your first name to help with registration.
- Coupl.in stores your Facebook user id to idenitify you on the system.
- We also seek permission to allow Coupl.in to email you via the Facebook Proxied Email.This will allow us to send you mails and notifications to your Facebook inbox.
- When your profile is being created,Coupl.in stores the url for your Facebook profile picture.We DO NOT store the picture itself but just the url which is updated each time you log in to Coupl.in
- We DO NOT post any information to your Facebook Wall or profile.
- In future, if we add some capibility to allow Coupl.in to interact with your Facebook profile, it will require your explicit permission.
- At any time you can disconnect from Coupl.in by visiting your Application Settings page on Facebook.
- To completely disassociate your Facebook Account from Coupl.in, delete your profile on Coupl.in and then disconnect from the Coupl.in Facebook application as above.

Safety and Security of your Coupl.in Account

Coupl.in follows reasonable technical and management practices to protect the confidentiality of information stored on our system. Your Coupl.in account is protected by the account you used to sign in.There is no scope for breach of any password on Coupl.in because we do not store any of your passwords. However, If you do feel your account from the provider(Google,Yahoo,Facebook,Hotmail,etc) has been compromised, then your Coupl.in profile is compromised as well.Please change your password on your account provider immediately or inform us to protect your profile.

Filters and Personal Data

Coupl.in learns about users through the filters they add on the website.By adding a Filter you are entering some personal data.Each filter clearly describes what data is expected from you.By adding a filter you are granting Coupl.in the permission to use the data you entered.

Offensive and Objectionable Data

Coupl.in reserves the right to remove without any prior notice, any kind of content or media that it may find objectionable to the larger audience.This includes but is not restricted to text data you enter, photos you upload or any other kind of information you may submit on the site.

Information Use

The information you enter on the website which includes profile data,pictures and any other information in filters, belongs to you.By agrreing to this Terms of Use Agreement and Privacy Policy you grant Coupl.in the right to use the information you provide as per the terms below.

Personally Identifying Information

For the rest of the document, personally identifying information includes email address, phone number, IP address of your browser and photographs uploaded

Usage

We use information you submit to help you create a personal profile and to help connect you with members with attributes identified by you as being important.We also match the members based on the filters you added and find the common points. Your profile and optional photo and all other filters you add are displayed on the site for public viewing by other members.If Coupl.in has to share the information you submit with third party websites it will be done in an anonymous way.No personally identifying information will be shared.Please read below the usage terms of the different kinds of information you may provide to Coupl.in

Public Information

Public information you submit (such as gender, age, height, location, photo, filter data etc.) is displayed in your profile and is meant to be viewed by the public. We monitor submissions to public areas and reserve the right to monitor private areas if we suspect violation of the Terms of Use Agreement and Privacy Policy. We reserve the right to remove, edit, delete or refuse any submission to a public or private area of the site without notice. We reserve the right to post reports of scam or deception received about those who have violated the Terms of Use Agreement and Privacy Policy or the law or misused Coupl.in for illegal or unethical purpose or monetary gain. Profiles, forums, public chat, and blogs (and all public areas of the site) are public postings, publicly viewed, and may be spidered and indexed by search engines. Coupl.in is not responsible for search engine listings. Members must protect their anonymity and not enter personal or business information in their username, headline, narratives, forum or blog posting, chat entries, etc. which are for public viewing.Age and Zodiac sign which are calculated from you date of birth are also viewable by all members.

Protected Information

By default, Coupl.in does not allow all members to see all of the information you have entered.This includes details like email address, date of birth and phone number.However, you can choose to share this information with a member when there is a mutual match.After you share your email address or phone number, Coupl.in is not responsible for how it is used by the person with who you share it.Coupl.in may also allow some filters to access your protected information.However explicit permission will be required from you before this is done.

Private Information

Private information (such as login identifier, IP address, credit card details) are not displayed on the public areas of the site and is not available to other members. Email addresses are used to email account information and for internal marketing purposes. Phone number will be used for verification purposes and informing about matches if you choose to do that.

Information Automatically Collected

Coupl.in automatically receives and records information from your browser including your IP address, browser type and cookie information. Your IP address is a series of numbers which identify your computer. We use it to help maintain our site. It does not provide personally revealing information about you. Cookies Cookies are small files stored by your browser in your computer while you visit our site. We use cookies to improve our site and make it easier to use. Cookies permit us to recognize users and avoid repetitive requests for the same information when you change pages on the site. We use session cookies that are automatically deleted after each visit. Most browsers will accept cookies until you change browser settings to refuse them.

Third Party Use

We may use third-party services for some filters you add to your profile (for example filters like movies,books,music etc). This requires that we send the data you enter to a website other than Coupl.in. We may also use advertising companies to serve ads when you are on the website. In such cases Coupl.in will only share non-personally identifiable information(no emails,phone numbers or IP addresses).The companies use non-personally identifiable information about your visits to this and other websites to provide ads about goods and services of potential interest to you. Coupl.in does not have access to or control of the cookies that may be placed by the third-party ad servers. Non-personally identifiable demographic information may also be shared for survey purposes.

Security

User Submissions

Be aware that any personally identifiable information you choose to disclose on this site, in public on your profile or forum, public chat or blog entries, or in private through email or private chat (IM) to other members, is done at your own risk and that it may be collected or used by others. Caution and good sense should always be used in disclosing your personal identity to others and in selecting the type of information that you post on the website or release to others. Coupl.in is not responsible for the use of any personal information that you may choose to disclose while on or off the website.

Jurisdiction

This website may be viewed from many locations. Nonetheless, you agree that Coupl.in is an Indian Entity and as such complies only with Indian Central and State laws.

Legal Disclaimer

Coupl.in will disclose your personal information, without notice, if required to do so by law, if necessary to protect the personal safety of users or the public, to protect and defend the rights or property of Coupl.in, or if we find that your actions on our website violate the Coupl.in Terms of Use Agreement and Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for death, personal injury, pain and suffering, loss of work or any other loss suffered by your use of this site.
