How do I Sign Up or Sign in?

Click on the "Sign Up" image on the home page top right to register, and the "Sign In" link if you are already a member and are returning.Simple!

Is it Free?

Yes.Signin up, creating your profile, verifying it and expressing interests are all free.You pay only when you find a mutual match.

What can I do on the homepage to see interesting matches.

Click on the binoculours icon to start searching.Enter some of the things you like on the home page and then navigate through the various matches.Sign up to ping the profiles you like.

What are the options for signing up.Which one do I use?

If you do not mind creating and remembering yet another user name or password, then enter your email address and a password and continue with the registration.However, we do recommend that you use one of your existing accounts.Firstly, because you do not have to remember another user name or password.Secondly it is more secure because you are not creating another password.The steps below demonstrate an example of signing in with your Google account for the first time.

2.Allow Coupl.in to access your email and first name
3.Complete the registration

How does Coupl.in allow sign in with Gmail,Yahoo,Hotmail and Facebook Connect?

Coupl.in uses the OpenID protocol to accept login credentials from providers who support OpenID. The OpenID system allows you to log in to many sites with a single credential so that you do not have to create yet another username or password or solve another captcha.

Many large login systems are enabling OpenID for their users. If you have an account on of of these web services, you are all set to use it on Coupl.in. Currently Coupl.in allows Google and Yahoo users to sign in with their OpenID.

Windows live is yet to provide mainstream support for OpenID.So sign in with hotmail or live id is done using Windows web authentication described here

Facebook login is done via Facebook Connect.

You will be redirected to the respective websites and will be asked for permission to use their credentials.This is perfectly safe and more secure than creating yet another username and password

Is my Coupl.in account linked to my Gmail,Yahoo or Hotmail accounts?

Not really.Gmail,Yahoo and Hotmail only share an anonymous id with coupl.in at the time of login and in addition provide the email address and first name if it is supported.So beyond that coupl.in has no more information about your account.We cannot access your contacts or mails in your Inbox. Facebook allows a few more actions for its 3rd party applications. coupl.in's interaction with your Facebook account is described below.

Does Coupl.in store the Gmail,Yahoo or Hotmail account passwords?

No.We cannot and do not store any passwords.You will be taken to the respective provider's website (Google or Yahoo or Live) to enter your username and password.It is a totally safe and secure way to manage your profile on Coupl.in.

We ask for the email address and first name information from the OpenID provider and you will be prompted for permission to share the same.Sometimes this support is not implemented so, we ask for the same during registration.All the providers return a unique user id which we store to track returning users.

If we don't have your valid email id, you need to provide a valid email id before verification of profile.

How does Coupl.in integrate with Facebook?

Coupl.in uses Facebook Connect to allow you to enter the site with your Facebook profile.You can use information from your Facebook profile on Coupl.in.We do not store any data that you have entered on Facebook.We fetch the data when needed.We do not post anything to your Facebook profile or wall without your permission.Permission for sending you email and notifications via your Facebook profile is sought at the time of registration.

Currently, Coupl.in's interaction with your Facebook profile is limited to the following

• We use the link to your profile picture on Facebook.We do not store the picture on our servers.
• We seek permission to send email and notifications via Facebook.Email is sent via a proxied email and your email id is not revealed to Coupl.in by Facebook
• We do not post anything to your Facebook profile or wall.If we do so in future, we will seek explicit permission.
• Other than sending email and notifications to your Facebook profile,all other interactions will require your explicit permission

Why does Coupl.in offer multiple login options?

So that you don't have to create yet another username or password.Read the advantages here.It is also safer and more secure.There is no scope for breach of any password on Coupl.in because we do not store any of your passwordsYour account is protected by the credentials of the provider you have used to log in to Coupl.in

How does coupl.in find out common interests and why is it important?

Coupl.in uses the data entered by you on the website and from various sources on the web, it finds out stuff that could be similar to what you chose. Over time, it also gathers this data from the users on the site and their activity.

Filters are the key to how matching is done in Coupl.in. By adding a filter to your profile you are telling the matching engine a little bit about yourself and about your preferences.Based on the filters you add and the basic search criteria,we will find you the suitable matches.

What are the payment terms?

Its simple! You pay only when you find a mutual match.You have to buy credits to contact your matches.Typically one credit will suffice to contact one match and it costs Rs 99/-. We have various plans and offers so you can buy multiple credits at a discounted price. Our current plans are listed below

You can register,verify your profile and contact details,browse matches and ping other profiles to express your interest - all for free!. Once you have a mutual match you can buy credits to send personal messages or just share your email and other verified contact details

So no subscription fee?

Thats correct!There is no subscription fees and you pay only for and when you have mutual matches.We strongly believe that you are here to meet interesting people and therefore you should be charged only for that.Say goodbye to expensive timebound subscription fees.We want to make sure you take your time to decide on the right matches and then take it forward.There is no clock ticking against your subscription expiry date.

You pay according to the number of matches delivered. This way you can explore other profiles at your own pace and have fun while doing so without getting ripped off on high subscription fees.

What is profile verification?

Users are encouraged to go through the verification process.Verification means that you confirm your email id, a valid phone number and some verification questions, just to make sure that we don't have any fake profiles.Verfication preference is given to those who have an invitation code.

Terms of Use

There is a Terms of Use Agreement and Privacy Policy document but for those not interested in reading a legal document, here are the terms simply put

• Coupl.in has the right to use all data you provide on the site to calculate matches for you
• Coupl.in may share data with your permission with third party filter providers,but will do so only anonymously.No personally identifying information such as email addresses will be shared.
• While we make the best efforts to help you meet the right person,Coupl.in is not responsible in anyway beyond the point of assisting you to initiate contact with your match on Coupl.in's web pages.In other words, if a match you met on Coupl.in turns into a jilted lover and she starts stalking you, you cannot hold us responsible.Sorry!
• If you choose to delete your profile,all your data and traces of any activity on Coupl.in will be removed forever.
• Contact details such as phone number,email addresses may be used by Coupl.in for purposes like verification,intimating you of matches etc
• No contact details will be shared with anyone else

How does Coupl.in keep track of the spreading word?

Coupl.in uses the code in the link (for example http://coupl.in/invite?c=cnshsow) we send to users to keep track of sign ups.So if you want to make sure we can track your efforts please use the link provided to you. The best way to spread the word is to just use the email invite option.The link is automatically sent that way. If you want to manually spread the word ensure that you are sharing your personalized link with the invite code.

I invited many friends but the page does not show the number of people I invited.

Revisit the page after a while.Coupl.in updates the count of invites as and when emails are sent to the people you invited.
